yes you can schedule an appointment just for contact fitting, and they probably wont charge anything just because its so simple. you just sit down, look in a little hole with a picture and 3 seconds later, you're done =]

also, don't be worried about not getting the right fit. if the contacts your eye doctor ordered aren't the right fit, then they will notice it when you go through the training to put them in and stuff, and they will order you new ones.

Does anyone know of a website for skin cream reviews?
I am looking for a website that can give me reviews on what are the best OTC (like Oil Olay, Neutrogena, Aveeno) age fighting skin creams. There are so many on the market, they are expensive so I want to do some research on them before I buy. I am mostly concerned about eye firming creams and Microdermabrasions.

That was (I think) the first time I had seen Professor Varma's blog. I thought that Jayanth Varma's post was spectacular. I hope Professor Varma will follow through with similar posts on this topic, and better yet that 3 or more New York Times reporters will investigate ICAP and the OTC market in a series of stories. To steal a phrase from Mike Konczal “Paging journalist Gretchen Morgenson!!! Paging journalist Gretchen Morgenson!!!” “Code blue for real investigative reporting on ICAP and the OTC market!!! Code blue for real investigative reporting on ICAP and OTC market!!!”

You know we're screwed for this next crisis 'cause they “wouldn't DARE take a cue from those dawty blogs.”

“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.” – Matthew 7:3-5

    Scar Cream??
My little cousin got into a car accident & had 12 stitches under her eye. The doctor who removed her stitches recommended a scar cream to fade the scar. Would it be best to go with the prescribed scar cream or are otc scar creams just as effective? My aunt is needing advice. She doesn’t want to spend more than necessary but knows it’s important to get one that works. My little cousin is 13 & I know it would hurt her self esteem to have a bad scar on her face for the rest of her life.

I second the use of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E. It smells really good, and it makes your skin smooth and soft while it fades scars. I’ve been using it on a huge scar on my leg, and its faded considerably (and is silky smooth). It works pretty well on newer scars, and after continuous use it might soften old scars as well.

The only downside is that is stays greasy for a while, so it would be best used at night. Until then, use make-up to try to cover it up.

No remedy for yeast infection to be found. Please help!?
My mother and my brother have yeast infections, my brother’s is moderate, my mother’s is severe, and it is genetic, since my grandparents on my mother’s side both had it severe as well.

My mother has tried everything for almost a decade now, but nothing has worked at all, and I mean NOTHING, not OTC drugs, not Acidophilus yogurt or pills, not creams, not even all of the general precautions for people with yeast infections.

They both have the Candida Albicans yeast strain, and my mother’s case is extremely rare, because she is allergic to all antibiotics and can’t take any natural or manmade drugs or ointments because EVERYTHING burns her in her women’s area.

My brother has it in his eye so bad that he can’t focus at all sometimes and no drugs have helped him either.

Any help will be appreciated, but info from people who had or still have this problem and defeated it with a non-standard method would be best.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Did you know that Candidiasis and Thrush (yeast infections) infects more then 80% of all people in the industrialized nations.

The first thing would be a diet change. Cut out all sugars… or as much as you can. Stay away from refined goods. No lunch meats. Next, i would suggest going to a health food store and getting a product such as Candistroy, or what ever you prefer.. Perhaps while you are there you could buy some garlic tablets (garlic is also good for killing off yeast)….. also buy some Caprylic Acid (kills yeast).

It is not enough to just destroy the yeast (which by the way can hide anywhere in the body .. not just private parts or mouth, eyes, it can affect the joints as well), you must be able to flush the dead yeast out of the body, as well as to introduce good bacterias back into the stystem with the acidophilus pills. You will also need to take supplements for liver support/cleansing, because as the yeast is killed off it turns into an alcohol, which can make a person feel foggy and tired, but it is just the yeast dying off. The liver needs to be supported at this time so that it can flush out all the dead yeast and toxins. This is a must. And of course drink pleanty of water….. alkaline water is preferable..
There is a new product that is out there called ThreeLac check it out as well. It is suppose to help get rid of stubborn yeast infections.

I am tired, so i hope i was not too confusing….. basically you need to kill off the yeast with a decent product i am sure there are enough listed ….. secondly because those natural products kill off yeast some of them also kill off the good bacteria that is in our stomachs or intestines that help keep yeast at bay… so that is why you will need to take probiotics two to three times a day. And then because of the yeast and toxins it will be hard on the liver as you start to get rid of it from the system… there fore a liver support supplement (which also can be bought from health food store) is imperative. Plenty of water to keep body flushing impurities out. …… Good luck…..

very dry skin around eyes and eyebrows please help?
My skin is extremely dry under my eyebrows this is so embarassing but you can see it (i dont have any scalp dandruff though) and also above my eye lids are very very dry. Ive tried all the lotions over the counter, currently using loreal age perfect night cream it seems the best. I used vasaline, I tried taking vitamin E, fish oil, and flax oil vitamins. I have this all year long but its worse now in the cold weather. I’m 20 and kind of just got this problem after high school. I DID have anorexia all through high school so i know that could make my skin bad, but I’ve maintained a healthy weight for over a year now. Please any vitamins i need to take or any really good otc lotion?? I wake up flaking:( Moneys really tight for a dermatologist so any advice is appreciated THANK YOU!

i used to have bad dry skin around my eyes as well. it made it really difficult to put makeup on because it would make my dry skin more prominent.

i have eczema so i know all too well about dry skin. i’ve tried every lotion, presciption, and cream i possibly could and nothing worked.

but after years of searching, i found a super cheap miracle that is my beauty secret i’ll use until the day i die.

if you go to walmart, in the pharmacy section..ask them to help you find the hydrocortisone cream. i get the equate brand in the white and blue box. i live by this stuff. after you take a shower..apply a little dab each on any dry spots you have. even your eyelids. if you keep it up, the dryness should be gone within a week. just keep using it everyday and it should keep the dry spots away. look i even ryhmed for you. lol.

but seriously…my sister had really bad dryness on her eyelids and i told her to use this and it cleared it up for her as well.

it’s SUPER cheap too! 1.97 for the little tube or 3.97 for the big tube.

lol i sound alittle obsessed but i’m really not. i just love this stuff and want to let everyone with dry skin know about it because it really works!

I’m really sick! :( Please help!?
Okay here it is. I was diagnosed with mild mono. It sucks!!! Here’s my list of questions…
    1) How long will it last? I was diagnosed with it yesterday? day before that? I don’t remember. I’ve been sleeping so much, I don’t recall most of my days. But I’ve had symptoms since last week.
    2) My medicine is gross! I have to take liquid because I can’t swallow anything. My mom has to like, syringe it into my mouth. How do I help the taste? If there’s no way, I CAN deal with it.
    3) They said it’s mild because my spleen isn’t enlarged. I don’t think it’s mild! The highest fever I’ve had was 106 degrees farenheit. My mom took me to the emergency room then, because I was so dehydrated because I couldn’t drink anything. But today my fever was 103 and stayed that way, even with medication. I think it would’ve been higher (like the 106) without it. But, how do I make my fever go down? And, I can’t take pills, so that’s out. I could probably smash the pills and mix it in with my ‘food’ that I am eating.
    4) I have this rash on my neck, the area around my eyes is like so puffy, and my neck is also a little bit bigger. How do I make the swelling go down? My doctor gave my mom the option of this REALLY expensive cream, but it’s not that bad. So she turned it down. Any OTC (over the counter) topical medicines, alright?
    5) What kind of baby food is best? Like, I do not, I repeat do not, like the chicken amd gravy! EWW!
Like any fruit kinds? Apple and banana is my favorite lol.
    6) SHould I drink the baby formula with pro-biotics? Or that kind that is kinda like breast milk? Or, should I stick with my Pedia Sure, and water? Ooh, and my special milkshakes! =3
    7) I have a lot of energy. But I feel like it’s bottled up inside and I physically cannot express it. I feel like a slug. Why is this? Shouldn’t I feel like poop and not even desire to move? Okay, I do feel like poop, but I feel like I should be around!!!
    8) Has anyone ever had the ‘Kissers curse’ or anything? Oh, and it’s not from my boyfriend. They got him tested. But it was from my friend who already had mono when I was infected initially, but it wasn’t effecting her and I drank soda after her. Stupid me!
But ANYWAYS! I know it was long, but the questions have been nagging me. But, actually, right now, I feel fine! Just over heated! =3

I never had mono before but to keep a fever down, I would ask my mom to get me some really cold wash cloths and put one on my forehead and under my neck. Try and see if you can take some vitamins. You don’t just get rid of mono. It is a virus that attacks your immune system. In the future, do NOT share any food or drink with anyone. I don’t care who they are. I make sure to never share anything with anyone. It’s good that you have energy now though. Are your lymph nodes really swollen? Have you tried popsicles? No ice cream. Whatever you do, stay away from that. That will irritate your throat. Do you have a throat numbing spray or chlorsoseptic? Are you allowed to use that stuff with mono? Do you have a heating pad you can put around your neck to provide some comfort for your throat? Did you try drinking warm liquids like tea. I used to think tea was gross when I was little but I adore it. It helps me feel better and soothes my throat. Otherwise, I don’t know how else to help you but I head that a severe sore throat is part of this illness. I hope I helped in some way and that my suggestions make you feel better.

I was also reading up on mononucleosis and you have to make sure to eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. Stay away from fruits like grapefruit and oranges though. The citrus acid will irritate your throat. Have your mom get you some green tea. That stuff is all around good for the immune system and it won’t bother your throat.

Try taking small sips of water if it’s really hard to swallow and try sucking on ice chips. You must stay hydrated or your temperature will go back up to that dangerous temp.

      Oh and get some gatorade.

the sooner is going to be more effective. your right, it won't prevent them, but in the long run it will help them fade after the baby is born if you do get them. I started using it right away, and I still got stretch marks, but they faded so fast that, you can hardly see them. good luck. everyone is different.
